Lovely pair of solid sapele mahogany chests made by Fowler, Drummond and Waddell of Hastings. Sitting on cylindrical tapered legs with metal fittings. Drawers have dovetailed joints,solid rimu sides and backs and hardboard bottoms. New brass handles replace ones that were on it as most of them had parts missing or broken. Fronts of the sides of the carcass have a slight curve. There is no borer. Stickers in top drawers sais design is special. I have had pieces by this cabinetmaker before and usually the design had a number so l have to assume these chests were purpose built for a customer. All drawers run well.
